The story begins in in the town of Écija, devastated by the plague. A royal food commissioner—who happens to be Miguel de Cervantes —discovers a young orphan named Sancho de Écija clinging to life beside his deceased mother. Cervantes rescues the boy and takes him to an orphanage in Seville, a city at the height of its power but riddled with extreme social contrasts, corruption, and misery.

As Sancho grows up on the streets, he transforms into a defender of the underprivileged. Driven by justice, hope, and vengeance, he must face a challenge that will decide the fate of Seville itself. Setting: 16th-century Seville, Spain (1587 and onwards).
