While Dipper faces the future with excitement, Mabel faces it with dread. Every attempt to plan their 13th birthday party is met with a harsh reality check—from Wendy’s cynical view of high school to her best friends being unable to attend. The Heartbreaking Climax
The visual of the rift shattering and the sky tearing open is "beautifully apocalyptic," signaling a point of no return for the characters. IMDb Rating: 9.3/10.
The episode thrives on the contrast between its two leads' experiences:
is widely considered one of the most pivotal and emotionally gut-wrenching episodes in Gravity Falls . Serving as the final prelude to the series-defining "Weirdmageddon" arc, it masterfully balances sci-fi wonder with the painful reality of growing up. The Dual Narratives
Many praise the "gripping" plot and the way it brings long-standing character tensions to a tragic head. While some find Mabel's vulnerability frustrating, most defend her actions as a realistic reaction to the overwhelming fear of losing her only constant—her brother.
Dipper goes on a high-stakes mission with Great Uncle Ford to an ancient, buried UFO to retrieve an alien adhesive for the interdimensional rift. Ford offers Dipper a life-changing apprenticeship, validating Dipper's lifelong dream but at the cost of his childhood and his bond with Mabel.
Critics from sites like Review Nebula and Nerdly highlight the episode's ending as its strongest asset. Mabel, emotionally shattered after overhearing Dipper's decision to stay in Gravity Falls, accidentally hands the rift over to a possessed Blendin Blandin.

This could have to do with the pathing policy as well. The default SATP rule is likely going to be using MRU (most recently used) pathing policy for new devices, which only uses one of the available paths. Ideally they would be using Round Robin, which has an IOPs limit setting. That setting is 1000 by default I believe (would need to double check that), meaning that it sends 1000 IOPs down path 1, then 1000 IOPs down path 2, etc. That’s why the pathing policy could be at play.
To your question, having one path down is causing this logging to occur. Yes, it’s total possible if that path that went down is using MRU or RR with an IOPs limit of 1000, that when it goes down you’ll hit that 16 second HB timeout before nmp switches over to the next path.
