The story follows a local clan leader, (played by Chen Kuan Tai), who turns into a sadistic tyrant after his wife is killed and his son's arms are severed by rivals. His son is outfitted with mechanical iron arms, and together they terrorize a village, systematically crippling anyone who crosses them. The "Avengers" are four men who were maimed by the clan: Chen Shun: Blinded after witnessing the tyrant's crimes. Wei Ta-chi: Rendered a deaf-mute. Hu Ah-kuei: Had his legs lopped off.
